UNITS OF STUDY

Introduction to Ayurvedic Medicine

Description: This unit of study introduces students to the philosophy and principles of this fascinating energetic system of healing, first recognised by the rishi (seers) of ancient India. Students will learn about their unique Ayurvedic body type and how to balance the bodymind using practical tools such as food, kitchen herbs, daily routines and yogic practises.

Learning Hours: Learning hours are inclusive of all supervised and prescribed activities throughout the duration of this unit of study. These may include lectures, on-line tasks, forums, assessments, prescribed reading, research, assignments and activities.

Assessment
This unit is assessed by:

  • One written assignment
  • In-class presentation
  • Class participation

Yoga and Meditation

This subject explores the many different aspects of yoga (including
postures, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques and meditation)
from both an experiential and philosophical point of view. On
completion students should be able to utilise different aspects of
yoga in their daily life and develop greater level of self awareness
through developing personal practice.

Ayurveda For Self Healing

Description: This course is designed for students who have already completed Introduction to Ayurvedic Medicine at Nature Care. It is particularly suited to students wishing to deepen their understanding of Ayurvedic principles and their practical use in a contemporary setting. Students will receive a more detailed grounding in Ayurvedic physiology and will develop skills in Ayurvedic self-diagnosis using the pulse and the tongue. They will also be introduced to Ayurvedic self-healing approaches using food, massage, kitchen herbs, holistic detoxing and rejuvenation practices.

Learning Hours: Learning hours are inclusive of all supervised and prescribed activities throughout the duration of this unit of study. These may include lectures, on-line tasks, forums, assessments, prescribed reading, research, assignments and activities.

Asana Postures

Description: This subject will provide you with a sound understanding of the basic Yoga postures. It is also designed for you to develop your
own flexibility, strength and awareness while learning about the
postures. The unit is also designed for you to develop your own flexibility, strength and awareness while learning about the postures.

Philosophy of Yoga

Description: This unit provides an overview of the history and foundational understanding of the philosophy of yoga which underlies the practices of yoga.

  • One on-line quiz
  • In-class presentation
  • Class participation

Pre-requisites: Yoga & Meditation (or some yoga practice)

Co-requisites:  Nil


Yoga Physiology

Description: This course provides a foundational understanding of physiology, according to the tradition of Yoga. Study includes Identifying the Nadis and Chakras, the Five vitals energies, Mudras (hand gestures) and Koshas and their importance in the study of Yoga

Assessment
This unit is assessed by:

  • Chakra meditation and reflection
  • Mudra demonstration and reflection
  • In-class presentation
  • Class participation

Co-requisites:  Nil




Course tuition fees for each term will depend on the number of units of study in which you enrol into. You enrol and pay on a term by term basis.
